About the Opportunity

SF Partners is working with a well-established organisation based in Loughborough to recruit an Employee Relations Adviser on a fixed-term contract until March 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional with employee relations experience who enjoys providing practical advice, supporting managers, and helping to create positive workplace outcomes. Working within a collaborative HR team, you will provide guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring policies are applied fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting managers through employee relations casework while contributing to a positive employee experience and the continuous improvement of HR processes.

The Role

As an Employee Relations Adviser, you will provide practical, timely advice and support to managers on a range of employee relations matters. Working closely with the wider HR team, you will help ensure employee relations issues are managed professionally, fairly, and consistently while promoting positive working relationships across the organisation. You will also support the development of management capability by coaching managers on best practice, ensuring policies are applied confidently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, and attendance management.
  • Support managers in managing sickness absence cases, ensuring compliance with company policies and promoting employee wellbeing.
  • Prepare accurate case documentation, correspondence, and reports for employee relations matters.
  • Assist with investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing relevant parties, and preparing reports.
  • Promote informal resolution wherever appropriate to encourage positive workplace outcomes.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to senior HR colleagues when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records, ensuring compliance with GDPR and internal procedures.

Manager Support

  • Coach and support managers in the application of HR policies and procedures.
  • Build management confidence in handling day-to-day people matters effectively.
  • Deliver guidance that balances business needs with employee wellbeing and legal compliance.

Process Improvement

  • Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of employee relations processes and documentation.
  • Support the delivery of manager training and awareness sessions on employee relations policies and best practice.
  • Share insights from casework to help improve service delivery across the HR function.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with colleagues across HR to deliver a seamless and high-quality people service.
  • Build positive relationships with managers and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Champion equality, diversity, inclusion, and fair treatment in all employee relations activities.

About You

We’re looking for an organised, approachable, and proactive HR professional who enjoys supporting managers and building positive working relationships.

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience within an HR Advisory or Employee Relations role.
  • Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, and absence management cases.
  • Good understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • High levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with managers and colleagues.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a large or complex organisation.
  • CIPD qualification or currently working towards one.
  • Experience delivering manager coaching or HR training sessions.
