SF Partners is working with an established and growing specialist manufacturer to recruit an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team.
Our client delivers high-quality commercial construction projects, working across a varied customer base and managing projects with values of up to £1million.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator with experience within joinery, shopfitting, commercial interiors or a closely related sector who enjoys taking ownership of quotations and tenders from initial enquiry through to successful project handover.
We would also be interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers from a construction background who have strong estimating, costing and commercial experience and are looking to move into a dedicated estimating position.
The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing project requirements, drawings and specifications to produce accurate and commercially competitive quotations for bespoke projects.
Working closely with clients, suppliers and internal teams, you'll play an important role in developing new opportunities while ensuring projects are accurately costed and commercially viable.
Your responsibilities will include
- Preparing detailed estimates and quotations for bespoke projects.
- Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation to establish project requirements.
- Producing professional tender and quotation proposals, including relevant commercial and supporting information.
- Accurately costing materials, labour and other project requirements.
- Ensuring quotations meet both the client's design brief and required commercial parameters.
- Managing multiple enquiries, quotations and tenders through the estimating process.
- Liaising with suppliers to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.
- Following up submitted quotations with clients and maintaining regular communication regarding project opportunities.
- Building and developing relationships with prospective and existing clients.
- Acting as an effective link between clients, suppliers and internal departments.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date quotation and project information within the company's ERP system.
- Supporting the successful transition of secured projects into delivery.
- Coordinating project handover meetings with Project Management and Purchasing teams.
- Identifying opportunities to improve value while protecting quality and commercial performance.
About You
We are looking for somebody with a strong understanding of estimating and costing within a bespoke construction, manufacturing or interiors environment.
Ideally, you will have
- Strong experience within architectural joinery, shopfitting, commercial interiors, bespoke furniture or specialist fit-out projects.
- The ability to confidently read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- A good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and associated project costs.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent numerical ability and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to deal directly with clients and suppliers.
- The ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines simultaneously.
- A proactive approach to following up opportunities and developing customer relationships.
- Experience using Excel is essential however, using estimating, ERP or project management systems would be advantageous.
Above all, we're looking for someone who understands how bespoke projects are put together commercially and can produce accurate, competitive quotations without compromising on quality.
