SF Partners are working with a business based in Coventry who are looking for a Sales Admin / Logistics Manager to join the team.
Purpose of Role
The Customer Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the Customer Logistics function, ensuring the effective management of pricing, inventory, customer orders, customs compliance, SAP master data, and customer service operations. The role is accountable for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining inventory integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage SAP pricing files for Wear & Spare products, Consumables, and third-party products.
- Review and challenge pricing structures to ensure competitiveness within the UK market while protecting margin performance.
- Calculate and maintain selling prices for third-party products in line with agreed margin targets.
- Manage inventory planning activities to ensure optimum stock availability while minimising inventory holding costs.
- Oversee Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to maintain stock levels for fast-moving products and proactively manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Monitor inventory discrepancies between our systems and Rhenus (3rd Party Logistics), ensuring inventory records remain accurate and aligned.
- Manage procurement and replenishment of third-party stock products.
- Oversee part master data management within SAP, including the creation of new materials, maintenance of substitute parts, and ongoing data integrity.
- Ensure effective communication of new part information and changes to warehouse and operational teams.
- Ensure full compliance with UK import and export customs regulations.
- Manage customs documentation requirements for shipments to Ireland and imports into the UK.
- Liaise with customs clearance providers, freight forwarders, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve customs, VAT, and duty-related issues.
- Maintain robust processes to support compliance with evolving customs and trade regulations.
- Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of SAP processes within the Customer Logistics function.
- Monitor sales order processing and ensure timely release of customer orders.
- Oversee supplier purchase orders and ensure open orders are actively managed and closed where appropriate.
- Produce and distribute backorder analysis reports, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in SAP master data accuracy and operational processes.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the Customer Logistics department.
- Ensure efficient processing of customer orders, quotations, invoicing, and customer enquiries.
- Oversee order fulfilment activities for both Sales and Service departments.
- Manage consignment stock processes and controls.
- Oversee System 3R order processing activities.
- Ensure customs clearance processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor departmental performance against service level agreements and customer expectations.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Customer Logistics team to deliver high levels of performance and customer service.
- Ensure team members are fully trained and capable of supporting all core departmental activities.
- Develop succession plans and cross-functional skills to improve team resilience.
- Provide leadership and support during periods of high workload, organisational change, and staff absence.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and customer focus.
- Direct management responsibility for the Customer Logistics team.
- Set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and identify development opportunities.
- Ensure appropriate resource planning and workload management across the department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in customer logistics, supply chain, customer service, inventory management, or logistics leadership roles.
- Strong SAP experience, including pricing, material master data, inventory management, purchasing, and order processing.
- Experience of MRP and inventory planning processes.
- Working knowledge of UK customs, import/export procedures, and trade compliance requirements.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Experience leading and developing teams within a customer-focused environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial business.
- Knowledge of Irish customs and VAT requirements.
- Experience of process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities.
