SF Recruitment are partnered with a growing business who are looking to hire a Payroll Officer to join their Finance team.
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, this role will take responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal controls.
Location: West Norwood
Salary up to £45,000pa
Hybrid working – minimum 3 days per week in the office.
Key responsibilities include;
- Accurately process payroll cycles in line with company deadlines and statutory requirements.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax regulations, pension schemes and other statutory requirements.
- Support the Payroll Manager with month-end and year-end payroll reconciliations and reporting.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees, managers and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with audits, compliance checks and the preparation of payroll documentation.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, escalating issues where required.
- Support the ongoing improvement of payroll systems, processes and procedures.
- Assist with ad hoc payroll projects and wider initiatives.
Profile required;
- Previous experience working as a Payroll Officer or within a similar payroll position is essential.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation and compliance requirements.
- Payroll qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Experience using payroll software.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately to deadlines.
- Confident communicator who is comfortable dealing with payroll queries across the business.
