We are currently recruiting for a Continental Shift Engineer on behalf of a well-established international manufacturer operating within a highly specialised and technically demanding production environment. This business continues to invest heavily in its engineering capability, plant infrastructure and operational performance, creating an opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a team focused on reliability, continuous improvement and long-term plant performance.
This is a varied role offering exposure to preventative maintenance, fault finding, equipment upgrades and improvement projects within a complex manufacturing setting.
The Role
As part of the engineering team, you will provide multi-skilled support across plant and production equipment, ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime and supporting ongoing site improvements. Responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities
- Diagnosing faults and identifying root causes of equipment failures
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to reduce recurring issues
- Contributing to equipment upgrades and installation projects
- Supporting plant start-ups and shutdown activities
- Managing maintenance documentation and CMMS activity
- Supervising contractors and supporting external service providers where required
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures and permit systems
- Supporting spare parts management and maintenance planning activities
About You
We're keen to speak with engineers who can demonstrate:
- Experience within manufacturing, process or industrial environments
- Multi-skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance experience
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working with hydraulic systems and industrial machinery
- Ability to read engineering drawings and fault-find systematically
- Experience supporting planned maintenance and continuous improvement activities
- Engineering apprenticeship and/or relevant engineering qualifications preferred
- Experience using CMMS systems advantageous
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a continental 4 on / 4 off pattern:
- 2 x 12-hour day shifts
- 2 x 12-hour night shifts
- Followed by 4 days off
