We’re looking for an experienced Environmental Advisor to join our M5 project team. In this role, you’ll help drive strong environmental performance across the project, ensuring we meet all environmental requirements, approvals and compliance obligations. You’ll work closely with the project team to support the delivery of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), Environmental Sub-Plans (ESPs) and Environmental Operational Procedures (EOPs), while helping achieve both project and organisational goals.
M5 Westbound Upgrade Project: Seymour Whyte has been awarded the design and construct contract by Transport for NSW to deliver the M5 Westbound Upgrade in Moorebank, Sydney. Valued between $250M–$300M and running from 2025 to 2028, this major transport infrastructure project will enhance one of south-west Sydney’s key arterial routes, supporting economic and residential growth while improving connectivity across the region. The project will remove a critical traffic weave between Moorebank Avenue and the Hume Highway, reducing congestion and improving network reliability. Key works include a new three-lane bridge over the Georges River and adjacent rail lines, enhanced freight access to the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal, and new pedestrian and cyclist links, improving access to the Liverpool CBD and delivering safer, more efficient travel for all road users.
About the Role:
- Support the delivery and compliance of the project’s Environmental Management Plans, procedures and approval requirements.
- Carry out site inspections, environmental monitoring and reporting across areas including noise, vibration, water, air quality and sustainability performance.
- Investigate environmental incidents and complaints, implement corrective actions and help drive continuous improvement on site.
- Work closely with construction teams to provide practical environmental advice and ensure strong environmental performance across the project.
- Lead and support environmental training, toolbox talks, pre-starts and site inductions to build environmental awareness on site.
- Identify innovative sustainability initiatives and contribute to best-practice environmental outcomes on a major infrastructure project.
About you:
- Tertiary qualification – Environmental Engineer/Science.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance, Company Quality Plan and legal and moral duty of care.
- Working knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, Australian Standards and industry codes.
- Understanding the specific project scope of works and contractual procedures for managing change.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Current C-Class Driver’s Licence.
Seymour Whyte benefits:
- Generous bonus programs linked to individual and business performance.
- Birthday annual leave.
- Salary continuance insurance provided to eligible employees.
- Generous parental leave supported by the Parental Support Toolkit.
- Purchased leave (up to four weeks) for flexibility across life commitments.
- Vehicle salary sacrifice and EV novated leasing options.
- Corporate health insurance discounts and EAP mental health support.
- Fitness & wellbeing discounts through WHEREFIT (gym, meal plans, fitness brands).
- Shopping and lifestyle discounts via Flare and CommBank Workplace Banking.
Many of our projects are not accessible via public transport and require travel between and within active construction sites. As a result, a current Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive on site are essential.
