We are seeking a Contracts Manager to support the commercial delivery of major civil infrastructure projects with Seymour Whyte in Western Sydney. This role is central to managing head contract compliance, subcontractor agreements, and ensuring strong commercial outcomes across project delivery. You will work closely with project, engineering, and commercial teams to manage variations, claims, extensions of time, and subcontractor performance. The role requires strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to balance risk while maintaining positive relationships with clients and suppliers.
About the Role:
- Ensure awareness and compliance with head contract conditions and incorporate requirements into subcontract agreements and project delivery processes.
- Support preparation and negotiation of progress claims, variation claims, and extension of time submissions with clients.
- Evaluate, document, and manage delay notices including weather, industrial, design, and other project impacts affecting cost and program.
- Review, administer, and manage subcontract agreements, including scope development, risk allocation, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Process subcontractor payments, including valuation of works, variations, back charges, and compliance with Security of Payments legislation.
- Maintain close liaison with project delivery teams to support commercial decision-making, forecasting, cost control, and reporting accuracy.
- Assist in managing subcontractor claims, Deeds of Release, procurement processes, and overall subcontractor performance and compliance.
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in commerce, law, construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in commercial and contracts management within a principal contractor or major civil infrastructure environment.
- Strong understanding of head contract administration, subcontract management, and risk allocation principles.
- Proven experience managing claims, variations, extensions of time, subcontract payments, and commercial reporting.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes across complex project environments.
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation including Security of Payments and industry-standard contract frameworks.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience mentoring or managing commercial or project support teams.
