Job Description
Finance Manager (12-month contract)
Andover
£60,000 – £75,000
Seymour John is partnering with a £14m turnover SME manufacturer based in Andover who forms part of a wider multi-billion turnover international group with further sites based in Mid-Wales. In this initial 12-month direct contract the Finance Manager is the number one point of contact onsite and is responsible for ensuring that the Company’s Financial Internal Control, policies and procedures are carried out correctly. My client is based in Andover and the majority of staff work on-site 5 days a week. They are however open minded to considering the option of hybrid working with a minimum expectation of 3 days a week being on-site.
The role will be responsible for ensuring that all internal and external reporting processes are completed to required schedules and timelines, and to the right standard. The role is part of the senior leadership within the business.
In this hands-on role some of the key challenges that this role entail includes the matrix management of a complex structure with a direct reporting line to a Senior Financial Controller based in Mid-Wales and a dotted line to the on-site General Manager and Internationally based European Operations Finance Director. You will need to be a technically astute finance professional who can lead on all reporting and stat accounts preparation whilst liasing and working closely with the external auditors.
- Management of Expenditure, ensuring correct allocation of expenses to cost centres; review and recommendation of budgets to the GM and wider group
- Preparation of external Statutory Accounts and associated Audit liaison
- Management of a team of four who are based in a SSC based in Romania
- Feedback of operating data to managers at all levels to enable them to know how they are operating within the given financial and budgetary limitations.
- Analysis of Customer and Product Gross Margins
- KPI reporting and analysis
- Prepare annual budgets of expenditure and departmental plans
- Monthly Payroll checks and Preparation of related Journals including provisions
- Work related to the management of cash flow, taxation, insurance etc.
- Preparation of internal Management reports of the company financial position to the Board and Group at regular intervals
- Preparation of external Statutory Accounts and associated Audit liaison
- Responsible for monthly reconciliations of balance sheets accounts, including bank accounts, fixed assets, inventory records, prepayments, accruals to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Ensure compliance with UK tax regulations, including VAT and Corporation Tax submissions
To be considered for this 12-month direct contract it is essential that you are available to start work at a maximum of 2 weeks’ notice and be a hands-on role your sleeves up accountant who can lead and own the finance function for a SME. You will ideally have exposure to working in a manufacturing and complex multi-site environment. You will be a qualified accountant or QBE with strong systems skills (knowledge of Oracle an advantage). In depth knowledge of the structure of financial statements (to include Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow).
