My client is in the retail sector.
The Financial Accountant position will closely support the Chief Accountant with maintaining strong financial controls while supporting day-to-day finance operations, month end and statutory reporting. This involves completing financial reviews, financial postings and producing group reporting packs.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude who can inspire and motivate other team members. They will possess strong technical accounting knowledge and a natural aptitude for continuous improvement and financial controllership. The candidate will have excellent problem solving and numerical skills, ideally gained within a SME environment or from practice.
Key responsibilities:
- Take the lead in identifying and implementing control based improvements to systems and processes and maintaining the internal control framework in conjunction with Group Internal Audit and stakeholders around the business.
- Support the production of the monthly accounts including the consolidation process to Group.
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and tax packs.
- Ensure adherence to statutory laws, regulations and accounting standards.
- Support with IFRS 16 and lease accounting.
- Liaise with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process, providing the necessary documentation to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
- Produce commentaries to explain the key variance drivers.
- Support the Chief Accountant and CFO with any ad-hoc requests.
