We’re looking for a proactive, commercially minded Loans Officer who thrives in a sales-driven environment while maintaining strong awareness of responsible lending and FCA expectations. This role blends business development, client relationship management, and credit assessment. You will engage directly with SMEs, build a pipeline of quality applications, and guide customers through the lending journey - all while ensuring rigorous due diligence and compliance.

The Opportunity
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage and nurture a pipeline of loan enquiries, keeping applicants engaged and moving efficiently through each stage of the process
- Assess business plans, financial information and supporting documents to make balanced lending recommendations that support both responsible lending and strong conversion rates
- Complete KYC, AML and fraud checks while maintaining momentum to keep applications progressing
- Communicate proactively with applicants, providing clear guidance, handling objections, and ensuring a positive experience from enquiry to decision
- Build strong relationships with referral partners, intermediaries and business networks to support a consistent flow of quality applications
- Attend occasional outreach or networking events to promote the loan offer and increase awareness among potential applicants
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure approved applicants transition smoothly to completion
- Maintain accurate records, follow lending policies and regulatory requirements
Personal Profile
- A strong sales background with proven experience generating leads and building relationships
- Confidence managing a fast-moving pipeline, prioritising effectively and working towards targets
- Good understanding of business finance, cashflow and the factors that influence affordability
- Awareness of FCA regulations
- Excellent communication skills - able to build rapport quickly
