Sewell Wallis is supporting our South Yorkshire client, a large multinational organisation undergoing an annual SOX controls and compliance programme and are seeking an experienced Interim SOX Controls Consultant to independently support their testing activity. This is a hands-on role focused on the testing and evaluation of approximately 40-60 key SOX controls across multiple business processes. The successful candidate will work closely with finance, risk, and internal controls stakeholders to assess design and operating effectiveness, document findings, and support remediation activities where required. They are extremely flexible in how the assignment can be worked - part time, compressed hours, in the office or on a remote basis.
What will you be doing?
- Perform end-to-end SOX controls testing across financial and operational processes
- Execute walkthroughs and assess control design and operating effectiveness
- Review evidence and document testing outcomes in line with internal methodology
- Identify control deficiencies and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders
- Track remediation actions and support retesting activities
- Liaise with process owners, Internal Audit, and external auditors where necessary
- Ensure testing documentation is completed to a high standard and within agreed timelines
