Role Overview
Sewell Facilities Management Limited are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an interest in Electrical Installation and maintenance.
We will develop your skills, knowledge and train you to carry out Electrical Installation and maintenance, safely and effectively in the management of our estate. This is including, but not limited to, carrying out electrical repairs and pre planned maintenance tasks, small general repairs to building fabric, small plumbing and HVAC tasks, providing customer service, working with external contractors and providing first response to fault finding.
The primary role of an Electrical Installation and Maintenance Apprentice is to assist and carry out electrical statutory and planned maintenance, assist and respond to reactive tasks allocated by our customer care team, ensuring all properties managed by Sewell Facilities Management are maintained to a high standard.
An Electrical Installation and Maintenance Apprentice needs to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests, and team. They will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. They will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. They will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.

Key Responsibilities
- Understand and maintain electrical distribution, safe repair of electrical installation to legal requirements, for example replacing damaged sockets, plugs, lighting and fuses.
- Understand and maintain plant, safety systems and equipment
- Demonstrate and implement energy, environment, and sustainable practices
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems.
- Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
- Understand and apply the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
- Understand and demonstrate the safe use of hand tools and electrical test equipment
- Understand and demonstrate the principles of Planned Preventative Maintenance
- Carry out repairs and reactive maintenance
- Understand and demonstrate the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace
- Comply with organisational safety, policies & procedures and identify hazards and reduce them
- Consider safety compliance with a diverse sector of client groups
- Understand and demonstrate the importance of working safely at height
- Understand the importance of customer service
- Record and report information accurately either internally or externally
