Role Overview
Sewell Facilities Management Limited are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an interest in building maintenance.
We will develop your skills, knowledge and train you to carry out general maintenance, safely and effectively in the management of a building. This is including but not limited to carrying out painting and general building tasks, plumbing and electrical repairs, providing customer service, working with external contractors and providing first response to fault finding.
The primary role of a Building Maintenance Operative is to optimise property condition, quality and to ensure the building is kept in a safe working condition. Building Maintenance Operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests, and team. They will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. They will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. They will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.
This opportunity will allow you to develop your skills in a number of different trades such as Joinery, Plumbing and Water Hygiene.
Hours of work:
- 40 hours per week to be worked following the below rota to meet the needs of the business
- Week 1 6.00am-2.30pm, Week 2: 7.00am – 3.30pm, Week 3: 8.00am – 4.30pm
Progression/Career Path
Completing this apprenticeship programme with its transferable skills will enable progression into technical specialist roles such as Building Maintenance or Mobile Maintenance, across a wide range of sectors.
Professional Recognition
The apprentice will be recognised by the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) providing Associate Membership for the apprentice whilst studying. IWFM have confirmed resources and learning materials will be available for the apprentice to support them throughout their learning journey.

Essential:
- A satisfactory Enhanced DBS (criminal background) check which the Company will organise and fund
- Hold excellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with a wide variety of people
- Have a positive and professional attitude
- Be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Hold good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks
- Possess an enthusiastic approach to learning, development and progression
- Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working may be required)
Desirable:
- Full Driving License, valid in the UK
