At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.
Your role will sit within one of our delivery portfolios working with our Customer Solutions business. You will be working on the delivery of large scale projects within a complex regulated corporate environment, responsible for making sure business outcomes are delivered effectively within budgets up to £10m. The programmes & projects will be a variety of complex, high-profile, inter-related schemes, delivered within a mixed methodology environment. You will therefore work within both an Agile and Waterfall environment, using your knowledge of the end-to-end Technology development and infrastructure delivery process from inception to deployment, business adoption and support. You will have knowledge of guiding deliveries through the Technology enterprise architecture, data, cyber security and respective domain strategies.
In this role, you’ll lead the charge in shaping and delivering complex technology initiatives. You’ll own planning and resource allocation across a 3–12-month horizon, ensuring multiple delivery teams work in harmony to achieve simultaneous business outcomes on time and within budget. As the go-to escalation point for programme-level processes, you’ll keep delivery on track while coaching and empowering teams to perform at their best. Collaborating with Portfolio Managers, Principal Business Analysts, Enterprise Architects, and Test Leads, you’ll craft a clear, strategic roadmap from inception to completion. Ultimately, you’ll be accountable for end-to-end delivery—driving results that meet the highest standards of quality, time, and cost.
You will be based at our Severn Trent Centre Head Office in Coventry. You’ll work within our dedicated delivery teams with around 10 to 12 colleagues. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, working Monday to Friday.
You’ll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. So, you’ll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported, when you need it.
We’re looking for a Senior Technology Project Manager with hands-on experience across Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, Lean, or hybrid models. You’ll be confident using Agile toolsets and championing a culture of collaboration, empowerment, and continuous improvement. In this role we will look for you to be clear & concise in your communication style when working with the business and have demonstrable experience of working on multiple projects at any one time. We will look for you to have team management experience as well. Although we’re happy to consider all candidates with good demonstrable experience of IT project delivery, our ideal candidate would have some experience of delivering within a Technical or IT Infrastructure capacity. Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
It’s not just a job; it’s a career. We offer benefits that reward great work and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. Plus, you’ll contribute to the environment and community too. Here are some of our favourites:
- 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/sell up to 5 days per year)
- Annual bonus scheme (of up to £2,225, which is subject to eligibility)
- Family-friendly policies (including a year off fully paid maternity and adoption leave)
- Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
- Sharesave – the chance to buy Severn Trent plc shares at a discounted rate
- Dedicated training and development with our Academy
- Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
- Two paid volunteering days per year
