Our Apprentice Technical Operator – Water Programme offers a great blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business.
- Location: Wrexham, Wales, LL14 4EH
- Role: Apprentice Technical Operator – Water
- Duration: 18 months
- Working hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (patterns include 7:00–15:30, 7:00–15:00, or 8:00–16:00)
- Starting salary: £22,500
What you will learn:
- How to carry out routine daily operational tasks on treatment works, including treatment processes, security, safety, and housekeeping.
- How to treat water to a wholesome standard and escalate concerns.
- First-line maintenance and water sampling.
- Safe working practices and hazard reporting.
- How to disinfect plant, assets, tools, and equipment to maintain a clean environment for water production.

Additional programme details:
- You will be studying toward a Level 2 qualification in Water Process Operative.
- A full UK licence and access to your own vehicle are required upon completion. Some sites are remote and not serviced by public transport; arrange safe arrival at start times.
- This is a Level 2 apprenticeship (equivalent to GCSEs A–C / 4–9). If you don’t have GCSE English and maths, functional skills can be pursued as part of the apprenticeship, achieving Level 1 while working toward Level 2.
What you’ll learn to do beyond core duties:
- You’ll gain practical experience in a few teams, learn to communicate data to stakeholders, and work with the Technical Operations team on clean water treatment and on-site energy optimisation, while carrying out safety and security checks and recording your progress.
