At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace. We have a brilliant opportunity to join our Water network Operations and Leakage department as an Upstream Targeting Analyst in our East region covering the Nottinghamshire area with a possibility to be based at Mansfield. This is a 12-month FTC opportunity.

In this role, you’ll analyse weekly tile discrepancies using a range of analytical techniques, interpret trends, discount anomalies and identify genuine network losses. You’ll lead the identification, development and delivery of both operational and capital solutions that improve the performance and consistency of our Upstream Tiles. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business and external consultants, helping deepen our understanding of the upstream network and providing clear technical reporting using tools such as Netbase and hydraulic models. By interpreting complex and varied data, you’ll uncover operational, network and system issues across the STW upstream network and drive them through to resolution. You’ll also identify and prioritise proactive leakage detection activities, supporting field teams with essential network insight that enhances operational performance.

You’ll have advanced technical knowledge of water distribution systems which will facilitate mass balance calculations enabling more informed and effective leakage targeting. This will involve collaborating with the wider business to resolve issues, improve the quality and quantity of our data monitoring points and advance our understanding of the upstream distribution system.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a technically minded and analytically strong professional who can assess operational data, resolve complex issues using corporate systems, and confidently run and interpret hydraulic models to identify network anomalies. Having an understanding of water distribution networks and leakage targeting, along with effective facilitation and problem‑solving skills is desirable. The role requires someone who can engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, apply a logical and solutions‑focused approach, and communicate clearly at all levels across the organisation. Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.

A full UK drivers licence will be required as you will need to travel between STW offices regularly.
