We’re looking for a Technical Lead, if you’re an Associate Director or Technical Director looking to move in-house to drive excellence in structural and civil engineering across major capital programmes. This is your opportunity to lead innovation in Structures, Hydraulics, Tanks, Pumping Stations, Buildings, and Temporary Works—delivering safe, high-performing solutions that make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of outline and detailed designs, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory standards.
- Act as the technical authority across key civil and structural areas, providing expert guidance and resolving complex queries.
- Mentor and develop engineers and apprentices, building technical capability within the team.
- Champion new materials, technologies, and design techniques to push boundaries and improve performance.
- Collaborate with other discipline leads and stakeholders to deliver integrated, efficient design solutions.
- Promote standardisation and innovation, challenging conventional approaches and driving continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in technical leadership for capital projects in civil/structural engineering—ideally within wastewater infrastructure.
- Strong track record in designing or overseeing designs for tanks, pumping stations, buildings, hydraulic systems, and temporary works.
- Cross-sector experience (rail, highways, energy) is a plus—especially if you can bring fresh ideas and best practices into the water sector.
