This is a wonderful chance to join the Waste Proactive Performance Team as a Performance Analyst - 37 hours a week out of our Derby Raynesway office. It is key that you are a person with a passion for customer care and operational excellence. Using your love of analytics and understanding of complex data sets, you’ll present your findings and recommendations and deliver effective programmes and solutions supporting both the proactive team and the broader business.
Proactive Waste Networks is an exciting and transforming area of the business, which combines knowledge and expertise with large and varied datasets to drive continuous improvement of KPIs and Outcome Delivery Incentives (ODIs) across the network. You’ll be valued as a trusted expert, bringing additional value to our data. Working with others’ innovative ideas and hypotheses, you will empower the business to make the right decisions and improve performance. You’ll work with other technical experts across the Operation and wider business, utilising advanced data interrogation, extraction and manipulation skills, to support deep-dive analyses. This role offers the opportunity to work with many key stakeholders and showcase your talents within an energised and transforming environment.
Responsibilities:
- Owning and driving performance improvement in line with our external performance commitments and internal targets.
- Identifying new processes and/or investment opportunities to positively impact and deliver on our commitments and targets.
- Developing opportunities to secure buy-in, gain funding or approval and implementing them directly where applicable.
- Developing new reports and monitoring as well as tracking delivery and performance on a number of improvement ideas and programmes across Waste Networks, taking accountability for highlighting concerns and escalating issues quickly to ensure the best possible outcomes for our customers.
- Responsible for tracking the tangible benefits for all improvement initiatives and their impact on performance and our external commitments, taking accountability for escalating and driving decisions where benefits are off track.
- Delivering an excellent level of insight into performance data, not just presenting this to the business but turning this into practical application and influencing the business to drive and deliver the opportunities.
- Identifying trends and opportunities and risks to performance at pace. Work with teams to develop improvement plans to capitalise on opportunities and mitigate risks quickly.
- Drive performance by collaborating with the wider strategic and tactical planning teams, influencing the multiyear planning process where applicable.
- Apply technical knowledge and skills to build credibility, ensure the right priorities are focused on and manage expectations outside of the team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- You must be naturally curious, motivated and action-oriented with great communication skills, to take ideas and improvements all the way through to delivery.
- Having previous experience analysing complex data and extracting key insights to deliver performance improvement will be required for the role.
- Excellence in using POWER BI and Microsoft Excel to analyse and report on complex datasets.
- An understanding and experience of Microsoft Access and/or other databases, including updating and creating new queries and reports and linking them to Excel and POWER BI for MI generation.
- Experience and excellence in translating complex data into insight and then into improvement opportunities.
- Experience of presenting to a wide range of audiences and influencing different teams to gain support and buy-in.
- Excellence in building relationships, gaining credibility and ongoing stakeholder management at all levels.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to quickly understand processes in relation to data and the bigger picture.
- Strong technical knowledge of waste processes, operational environments and working in a regulated environment would be beneficial.
- Experience in using Microsoft Excel to analyse and transform datasets.
- Experience with large datasets and data platforms such as querying data from SAP, Salesforce or similar.
- GIS experience in ESRI ArcGIS or ArcMap products or similar (ESRI preferred).
