About the Programme

You will be based at Shelton in Shrewsbury, the heart of our patch. The apprenticeship will allow you to gain exposure in different areas of the department, so you are equipped with the right skills to build your career with us. In this exciting programme you will discuss your development and career ambitions in 1‑1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader and the New Talent Team. As part of this apprenticeship you will be studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Water Industry Network.

What You Will Learn

  • How to identify leakage using data, tools and techniques.
  • Advising customers on water fittings and maintaining meters and loggers.
  • Identifying water network issues and applying fault‑finding techniques.
  • Calibrating equipment such as temporary loggers and pressure gauges.
  • Operating the water network safely and protecting the environment.

Key Information

  • Location: Shelton, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY3 8BJ
  • Standard: Water Industry Network
  • Apprenticeship Level: 3
  • Apprenticeship Duration: 30 months
  • Starting Salary: £22,500
  • Entry Criteria: For this level 3 apprenticeship, the role involves the use of maths in everyday operational scenarios and will require candidates to have already achieved GCSE English and Maths grade C/4 or above or be willing to study these topics to achieve the equivalent standard by the end of the programme.
  • Driving Requirements: If you are successful, you will require a full UK licence and access to your own vehicle upon completion of your apprenticeship.
  • Hours: You will be working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, across a 7am – 3.30pm working pattern.

Roles close on 16th March at Midday (12pm). Face‑to‑face assessments will run through April and May 2026. Estimated start date – September 2026.

In accordance with Home Office guidance, successful candidates will be required to evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment. The programme does not meet Home Office criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; therefore the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate right to work without Severn Trent sponsorship.
