Within the Capital Design and Delivery department, we are looking for new members to join our CCS Water Treatment Hydrogeology team at the Senior Hydrogeologist level, although other levels may be considered relative to experience.
Reporting to the Team Manager of the CCS Hydrogeology team, you will provide and deliver hydrogeological expertise to support the STW AMP8 programme, delivering quality designs that are efficient, innovative, to agreed programme milestones; and compliant with all relevant STW company strategies, policies, procedures and standards.
Your main duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Liaising with consultants, design & build partners, specialist contractors and water industry stakeholders.
- Design, supervision and review of test pumping, CCTV and Geophysical surveys.
- Carrying out borehole condition and performance reviews.
- Contributing to water quality investigations & supporting water quality schemes.
- Assist in the development of solutions with appointed consultants or contractors (where appropriate); and/or Production and review of design specifications for borehole construction and rehabilitation works.
- Supporting with pricing activities and supporting our STW Commercial teams.
- Onâsite supervision of contractors during the drilling, rehabilitation and testing of groundwater sources.
- Ensuring high levels of health and safety are maintained during design and construction phase.
- Liaise with other Hydrogeologists, Operations, Licensing, Public Health & Standards, Process, or other relevant STW stakeholders during the design and construction phases.
- Assist and provide support (when required) in licensing, abstraction and discharge consents.
- Supporting the wider Business with ongoing and future requirements.
On a dayâtoâday basis, you will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood and that solutions meet the business objectives and are within approved budgets. You will drive H&S, undertake risk management, challenge designs and ensure that appropriate support is provided to the programme team so that the solution is delivered efficiently, onâtime and inâline with specifications.
Ideally qualified with Masterâs Degree in Hydrogeology (or similar); or an engineering degree with significant experience in the methods and techniques required. We will expect you have a good level of knowledge, understanding and experience in:
- Business planning activities and requirements.
- Borehole construction and remediation techniques.
- Groundwater asset management.
- Groundwater and water resource evaluation.
- Legislation influencing water resources.
- Deployable Output assessments.
- Groundwater quality issues.
- Management of H&S and environment.
- Water quality regulations, regulatory engagement and management with Ofwat, the Environment Agency, Drinking Water Inspectorate, etc.
You will ideally have experience working with a diverse team of different skillsets, with experience of implementing CDM regulations in the design process, with an understanding of risk management in construction and operational design. You will require significant stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people.
