About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer (Electrical). The role will be based in Raynesway (Derby) and will sit in our expanding major projects and bioresources waste treatment design team. Our Design Team uses their technical skills to shape the wastewater strategies for the company, providing expert advice to lead projects from feasibility to detailed design to support the Severn Trent goals.
You will work with our stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to protect and enhance the quality of our waste treatment assets and rivers; interrogate and make improvements to our data systems; undertake investigations; and undertake outline designs so that we have the best evidence available from which we can make sound decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Sewage treatment assets - understanding our existing assets, completing risk assessments, undertaking outline designs for new assets to meet new business needs and short-to-long-term complex investigations.
- Developing strategies to enhance the existing assets and inform the Price Review regulatory submissions; collaborating across the business as we build our river quality, sustainability, and net zero carbon plans influencing the business to transition away from traditional investment routes.
- Carry out self-led research on emerging technologies, to define new innovative treatment options and collaborate both internally and externally to promote new strategies.
- Promoting our ongoing waste treatment capital maintenance programme; ensuring that we have robust evidence-based understanding of how our waste treatment sites work to ensure final effluent quality is maintained.
- Tactical support and advice to operational teams to maintain the availability and quality of our waste treatment services for our customers.
- Ensure Health and Safety are built into the lifecycle of the design.
- Understand and review potential delivery and operational risks.
