About the Role
As Renewable Energy Projects Specialist, you’ll manage the capital maintenance programme across our CHP fleet. You will balance high standards of health & safety with cost control, managing a £35m programme across AMP8. You’ll deliver projects from inception to completion, working closely with site operational teams to minimise disruption during major overhauls and engine replacements.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the delivery of capital works, develop programmes in collaboration with operational and construction teams, and ensure accurate recording of time and costs.
- Obtain quotations, manage budgets, commission and snag projects, and conduct project completion activities including capitalisation, handover to operations, and full documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to support high‑quality projects; liaise with commercial functions to ensure successful execution of maintenance service contracts.
- Provide regular reports to the Bioresources leadership board, updating on programme progress, performance and innovative solutions for increased biogas production.
- Manage health & safety through CDM regulations, oversee hot works and lifting operations, and contribute to HAZOP processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering qualification in a relevant discipline or strong technical background in gas or electrical projects.
- At least five years’ experience in the wastewater or anaerobic digestion (AD) industry.
- Experience managing complex capital projects and contractors under CDM guidance.
- Knowledge of IOSH and HAZOP processes; confidence in communicating technical issues across all levels.
- Strong stakeholder management, including contractors, site teams and finance/leadership teams.
