Our Waste Water Recycling team has a great opportunity for you to join as our new Electrical Maintenance Technician.
The position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team working on a variety of equipment and assets, where you will have the opportunity to embrace curiosity and develop new skills outside of your normal day-to-day activities.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring our treatment processes are working optimally to deliver important work enhancing our region\’s rivers. The role will include:
- Proactively and reactively maintain the electrical assets onsite.
- Reacting to failures and planned improvement works across the area on sewage pumping stations and sewage treatment works.
- Carrying out servicing and replacement of assets such as pump motors, electrical circuitry components, contactors, overloads, slip ring assemblies, telemetry outstations, variable speed drives, and motor control circuits.
- Supporting the local maintenance teams in planned and breakdown maintenance activities on electromechanical wastewater assets.
- Undertaking fault diagnostics and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Completing electrical inspections and testing.
- Interpreting and updating electrical drawings.
- Supporting the design and build of new processes.
- Providing timely feedback on work carried out daily.
- Owning site electrical performance.
- Monitoring treatment processes using SCADA system and acting on alarms as required.
As this is a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us for hours a week, working across a range of shift patterns including evenings and weekends. The core working hours are Monday to Friday, and you will also participate in a standby rota.
The role is part of a competency framework supporting your development from “Foundation” through “Skilled”, with the option to progress to “Expert” status.
As part of your professional development, you will be required to upskill as an LV/HV SAP, which will come with an additional allowance on top of your basic salary.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Along with your experience, you must hold:
- NVQ level Electrical qualification
- Thorough knowledge of Electrical Regulations (including recent updates)
- A full UK driving licence
You should know how to work with process control systems and have a working knowledge of industrial electrical installation requirements and standards. Experience working with various IT systems used in our operations will be beneficial.
You must have sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Basic instrumentation skills are desirable but not essential, as there will be opportunities to upskill and develop a second skill set.
