This is an outdoor, active role involving operation and maintenance of Severn Trent’s Underground Water network, the upkeep of the Clean Water Network, and repairs of Clean Water Main Assets. You may conduct excavation within the public highway on Severn Trent sites and private lands, and you’ll be working in all weather as part of a rolling 7 week shift pattern (24/7, 365).
Overview
• You will put the needs of customers first, respond to and resolve issues raised by customers or members of the public, and liaise with other departments and contract partners. • You’ll perform a full range of duties to deliver an effective repair and maintenance service, including the repair and replacement of existing water mains and ancillary assets, laying and working on valves, washouts, and meters. • You will operate machinery on site and use up-to-date technology to assist back-office data upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain Severn Trent’s Underground Water network and repair/maintain Clean Water Main Assets.
- Conduct excavation within the public highway on Severn Trent sites and private lands as required.
- Respond to customer or public queries, ensuring timely resolution and effective stakeholder management with other departments and contract partners.
- Carry out repairs and replacements of water mains and ancillary assets; work on valves, washouts, and meters.
- Utilise on-site machinery and contribute to data collection/maintenance using updated technology.
- Work as part of a rolling 7 week shift pattern (24/7, 365) in an outdoor role.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- A full UK driving licence is required as you will travel independently to depots/bases.
- Accountability for your own health and safety and a duty of care to colleagues and the public; prior experience with safe operation and compliant practices is essential.
- Previous experience in water operations repair and maintenance is preferable but not essential; customer-facing role as part of Severn Trent’s service provision is important.
