At Hafren Dyfrdwy, we’re passionate about delivering clean, safe water and caring for the environment across Wales. We’re more than a water company – we’re a team committed to sustainability, innovation, and supporting the communities we serve. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real impact and be part of a purpose-driven organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Distribution Operative! In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of Hafren Dyfrdwy’s Underground Water network. You’ll be tasked with the upkeep of our Clean Water Network and any required repairs of our Clean Water Main Assets, conducting excavation within public highways on Hafren Dyfrdwy’s sites and private lands. You’ll put the needs of our customers first, responding to and resolving any issues raised by our customers or members of the public. Your stakeholder management skills will also be used to liaise with other departments and our contract partners.
Every day is different; you’ll undertake the full range of duties involved in delivering an effective repair and maintenance service, including but not limited to:
- Repair and replacement of existing water mains & ancillary assets
- Laying and working on valves, washouts & meters
As our new Distribution Operative, you’ll be operating machinery out on site and using up-to-date technology to help our back office with their data upkeep. This is a great opportunity to utilise and develop your skills all round! You will be required to be on a call rota as we require (24/7, 365). Furthermore, this is an outdoor role, working in all weathers, and at night when needed.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A full UK driving license is needed as you will be required to independently travel to depots/bases. In this role, you’ll be accountable for your own health & safety and have a duty of care to your colleagues & anyone affected by the work you do, for example, the general public / site personnel. Experience of working safely and operating compliantly is a must-have for this role. We love serving our customers, so it’s key that you do too, as in this role you’ll be the face of Hafren Dyfrdwy whilst out and about in our communities. Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.

- 23 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/sell up to 5 days per year)
- Annual bonus scheme (of up to £1,150 per annum based on company performance)
