This is a fantastic opportunity working as a Tax Business Partner with us at Severn Trent for a 12-month FTC, working from our head office in Coventry. As an experienced Tax Professional, we will want you to take the lead in managing our Corporation Tax Return Process for the Severn Trent group of companies based in the UK. In this role, you will also manage the year-end tax provisioning process, delivering defendable tax positions that are fully supported by transparent and clear disclosures and take an active role on all regulatory matters including Price Reviews and Annual Performance.

What We're Looking For

  • Supporting the tax function with new business initiatives (such as M&A & restructuring) and legislative change (including lobbying, impact assessments).
  • Pursuing value added tax opportunities in-line with the Group’s approach to tax planning.
  • Business partnering key stakeholders, such as ST Services, Property, Treasury and R&D teams.
  • Coordinating the Group’s tax governance work streams, including running the Group’s SAO programme, maintaining the tax risk register, reviewing inter-company charges & defending tax audits.
  • Managing the tax treatment of treasury matters, including derivatives, transfer pricing, interest deductibility, withholding taxes and FATCA.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements and better ways of working.
  • Support on audits/queries raised by HM Revenue & Customs Large Business Unit.
  • Manage relationship with external tax advisers on complex and technical areas of direct tax.

We’re looking for a candidate who has 2-3 years experience in UK corporation tax, with experience in Onesource being desirable. The successful candidate would be a qualified Chartered Accountant, or Chartered Tax Adviser. The right skills and experience are important.
