You’ll be supported every step of the way as you gain practical experience across several teams. You will develop your knowledge of Severn Trent’s processes, communicate data effectively to stakeholders, support the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, assist with incident investigations, carry out site audits, contribute to wellbeing initiatives, and deliver training such as toolbox talks and inductions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the safety management system.

  • Analyse safety and compliance data and present findings to management.
What You Will Learn
  • Statutory health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • SHE management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001) and hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Occupational health and wellbeing.
  • Conduct inspections, audits and workplace checks.
  • Delivering training and safety briefings such as toolbox talks and inductions.
  • Analysing safety and compliance data, producing clear reports and engaging with colleagues, suppliers and contractors.

Programme Details
  • Location: Severn Trent Centre, 2 St. John’s Street, Coventry, West Midlands, CV1 2LZ
  • Standard: Safety, Health and Environment Technician
  • Apprenticeship Level: 3
  • Duration: 24 months (excluding EPA period)
  • Starting Salary: £22,500
  • Entry Criteria: GCSE Maths and English A*-C, confidence using IT and core Microsoft programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Driving Requirements: Not essential, but a valid driving licence is advantageous for site visits.
  • Working hours: 37/40 hours per week Monday to Friday, across an 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm pattern.
