We are looking for an experienced Commissioning Manager to join the Water Commissioning team. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering the commissioning of the water quality schemes that will ensure a successful delivery over a wide range of projects and processes. The business unit spend is approximately £b and covers a number of large critical surface water treatment works as well as a large number of groundwater sites.

Key Accountabilities:

  • You will work closely with the project management team to allocate staff to high-risk projects, collaborating with the supply chain to ensure timely delivery against programme, cost, and quality targets, with an emphasis on excellent health and safety.
  • You will own the commissioning plan for the schemes under your responsibility, working alongside the Design and Delivery teams and Water Treatment Operational teams to ensure efficient and optimised delivery of the programme.
  • You will oversee the implementation of the commissioning process across all water quality schemes to ensure consistency, identify lessons learned, and continuously evolve our processes, liaising with stakeholders across the supply chain and operations.
  • You will provide technical and operational input into the design process to ensure that when schemes are delivered, all outcomes are met (Quality, TOTEX, delivery date) and that solutions are practical and effective, sharing experience and industry best practice.
  • You will actively engage with Water Treatment to facilitate the efficient delivery of all schemes and smooth handover to meet deadlines.
  • You will actively engage with CCS to ensure that commissioning is considered at the start of the scheme design phase for effective delivery.
  • You will problem-solve and troubleshoot during commissioning, supporting the supply chain to ensure all water quality regulations and standards are complied with, protecting the quality of water for our customers.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

This role will allow you the opportunity to manage your own time and workload across concurrent projects with consideration of delivery needs. You will also influence at senior levels within the business whilst liaising with supply chain and front-line operations. Experience should include (but not limited to):

  • Technical expertise in both surface and groundwater processes.
  • A proven record of commissioning large water quality schemes.
  • Overview knowledge of NEC Conditions of Contract.
  • The ability to articulate complex information to those with a basic understanding of water treatment and water quality through clear verbal and written communication.
