With our dedicated in-house design team, we are set to achieve outstanding results and make a significant impact. Due to an exciting new programme which is going to see us deliver for our customers a full mains renewal across our region over the next few years, we are now on a significant recruitment drive to scale our teams to deliver this fantastic work. This is your opportunity to play a part in this transformation!
As our new Senior Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible as a key point of contact for key stakeholders both internally and externally to understand the scope of the mains renewal schemes and agree design assessment and completion milestones with the programme team. You will be integral in supporting the wider team and upskilling Assistant Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers. Alongside approving feasibility assessments for Mains Renewal projects within the specified timelines and budget constraints, utilising both site inspections and data analysis.
Key Accountabilities
- Agree design assessment and design completion milestones with the Mains Renewal Programme Team.
- Support the Programme Team to define the appropriate approach to each mains renewal programme, ensuring the most cost effective and appropriate methods are used.
- High level appraisal and feasibility of conceptual designs to create innovative and efficient TOTEX solutions which resolve the business problem (liaising with appropriate internal and external experts, ensuring design standards and assurance processes are followed).
- Undertake early pro‑active risk management and ensuring risk registers are owned and maintained throughout the design feasibility and design process.
- Undertake the role of Principle Designer (discharge duties as a client in accordance with CDM regulations).
- Ensure Health and Safety considerations are built into the lifecycle of the mains renewal design.
For this role the right candidate will have experience in a similar role providing designs and specifications for Construction. Experience of working to standards, codes and practices, coaching skills and building capability within the Design team. As travel is required, you’ll also have to hold a full U.K driving license.
