We are looking for Protective Security Operations Centre Specialists (PSOC Specialist) to join our Security and Resilience Team. This is a site-based role in Frankley, Birmingham, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional travel. You'll also provide shift cover during colleague absence, including days and nights, although this will not be a regular requirement. You'll provide operational guidance within our Protective Security Operations Centre, helping deliver effective monitoring, alarm response and incident management across Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy sites. You'll support operators, lead complex incident assessments and maintain oversight of security systems. You'll also support training, quality assurance, reporting, audits and the continuous improvement of our procedures and resilience arrangements. As well as this you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the Security Control Room, monitoring and coordinating responses to security alarms across operational sites. Working closely with site teams, external agencies including the police, and colleagues across the wider business, you'll ensure security events are managed effectively while maintaining strong communication with key stakeholders. Alongside operational responsibilities, you'll support performance reporting and KPI management by analysing data, producing insights and presenting findings to operational teams and senior leaders. The role also involves reviewing and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs), contributing to the upskilling of colleagues, promoting security awareness across the business, and supporting the line manager with rota management, team administration and the continuous improvement of control room activities.
You'll have experience in a Protective Security Operations Centre, Alarm Receiving Centre or similar control room, alongside experience supervising, mentoring or providing operational leadership. You'll understand CCTV, intrusion detection, access control and security management systems, with sound incident assessment, communication and reporting skills. Professional security qualifications, an SIA CCTV Licence and SC-level security clearance would be beneficial, or have a desire to achieve them as part of your development. You'll also hold a valid UK driving licence. Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality, as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities.
At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide for employee engagement, and we're equally proud of our strong Glassdoor score - reflecting how much our people love working here.
