Our Apprentice Assistant Water Network Technician Programme offers a blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business. You will be supported every step of the way, gaining practical experience in several teams and developing your knowledge and understanding of Severn Trent processes. You will learn how to identify and reduce leakage across our network, work outdoors, interact with distribution service technicians, repair and maintenance teams, call centres, network optimisation teams, contractors and customers, and build strong stakeholder relationships.

How the Programme Works

You will be based at Barnhurst in Wolverhampton. The programme will expose you to different areas of the department so you are equipped with the right skills to build your career here. You will discuss your development and career ambitions in 1‑1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team. As part of this apprenticeship you will study toward a Level 3 qualification in Water Industry Network.

What You Will Learn

  • Identify leakage using data, tools, and techniques.
  • Advise customers on water fittings and maintain meters and loggers.
  • Identify water network issues and apply fault‑finding techniques.
  • Calibrate equipment such as temporary loggers and pressure gauges.
  • Operate the water network safely and protect the environment.

About the Programme

Your line manager, mentor and apprentice buddy will help you reach your full potential.

Location: Barnhurst, Oxley Moor Road, Wolverhampton

Standard: Water Industry Network

Apprenticeship Level: 3

Apprenticeship Duration: 30 months

Starting Salary: £22,500

Entry Criteria: Candidates must have achieved GCSE English and Maths grade C/4 or above, or be willing to study these topics to achieve the equivalent standard by the end of the programme.

Driving Requirements: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required. You will work 37/40 hours per week Monday to Friday, across a 7am – 3.30pm / 7am – 3pm / 8am – 4pm working pattern.
