Programme
This apprenticeship is based at Spondon in Derby. You will work in a workshop each day, gaining practical experience with Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) and studying toward a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician. You will also have 1‑to‑1 meetings with mentors, cohort leaders, and the New Talent Team to discuss your development and career goals.
What You Will Learn
- Carry out basic mechanical and electrical tasks and use common tools and equipment.
- Contribute to workshop safety and efficiency, following company and legislative processes.
- Use diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults on HGVs.
- Apply recognised diagnostic procedures and advanced problem‑solving techniques to establish faults.
- Perform detailed repairs on vehicles up to 44 tonnes.
- Triage and rectify on‑spot defects for all vehicles, including tankers.
- Use industry‑standard and in‑house software.

- Driving Requirements: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle at start.
