EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We are looking a HGV Driver to join our team as a Waste Incident Responder (Tanker Driver).
Within the Leicestershire region of Severn Trent predominantly from our Leicester Water Centre depot but occasionally you may be required to travel further within the Severn Trent region.
In this role, you’ll drive vacuum tankers to collect and deliver liquid biosolids and other waste products within the Severn Trent network.
This role is our equivalent to our own emergency services for waste water.
Where you’ll be part of a team that responds when something goes wrong at sewage treatment works or pumping stations. Or a blockage, flooding, or pollution within the network, across the Severn Trent Water area you’ll be one of the first people to respond and help get things back to normal quickly and safely working alongside other operational teams to stop a pollution or flooding from reaching a water course.
With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, working across a range of shift patterns including evenings weekends & bank holidays, including Christmas period (depending on shifts).
Shifts follow a 4 on / 4 off pattern, with shifts running from 05:00–16:00, 13:00–00:00, and 21:00–08:00 on a 4 weekly rotation.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, including drivers’ hours, working time directive, and vehicle roadworthiness.
- Complete daily work instructions from the Planning Office or Line Manager.
- Communicate timely and accurately with all stakeholders to keep everyone updated.
- Use STW IT systems for tanker load information, safety systems, e-learning, and working hours entry. (Please note you will require a basic level of IT skills to be successful in this role).
- Report any site or equipment issues to your Line Manager for resolution.
- Identify and highlight efficiency opportunities to reduce overall costs for Severn Trent.
- Can be expected to work alone or as part of a team
- Supporting with capturing pollution impact information including photographs and samples.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
To be successful in this role you must hold at least one of the following licenses:
- Class 2 licence (C licence)
- Class 1 licence (C + E Licence)
It would be brilliant if you have previous wastewater experience, but this is not essential.
