Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your leadership and engineering skills shine. Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care. Are you a natural leader who thrives on turning strategy into an actionable engineering plan? If you’re passionate about coaching a technical team, we want to hear from you!
We are launching a landmark programme to fundamentally transform our management of infiltration. We’ll remove unwanted water from our network every day, deliver environmental benefits, and protect our rivers for generations to come. To do this, we need a pioneering Engineering Manager to lead the technical team that will turn this strategy into a reality. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us as a Strategy Manager at either our Raynesway, Derby or Severn Trent Centre, Coventry site. You’ll be at the very heart of the programme, providing the technical and people leadership that will make our ambitious goals a reality.
You will lead and mentor a dedicated team of experts, including a Senior Asset Engineer, project manager and Data Analyst. You’ll translate the strategic vision into a clear engineering execution plan, upholding technical excellence, and creating a high-performance culture focused on solving complex problems. You’ll play a key role in our investment planning, alongside project delivery.
Responsibilities- Provide direct line management and technical mentorship to your team.
- Translate the high-level programme strategy into a detailed, integrated engineering plan.
- Manage resources and mitigate technical risks.
- Accountable for the team's delivery against our key targets, tracking progress against technical milestones and budget, and providing clear, concise reports on performance.
- Create an environment where new ideas can thrive.
- Guide the team in trialling and embedding new technologies and processes to continually improve how we find and fix infiltration.
We’re looking for a proven leader with strong technical expertise and people management skills, capable of guiding teams through complex challenges while promoting growth and development. Ideally, you’ll bring experience in wastewater networks or related fields such as civil engineering, hydrogeology, or utilities, combined with outstanding organisational abilities and a proactive, solution-focused mindset. You don’t need to be an infiltration expert yet – what matters is your enthusiasm for leading and supporting those who are. Whether you’re an experienced Engineering or Technical Manager, a Senior Engineer ready to take the next step, or an operations professional, the key to this role is your ability to inspire others and develop talent.
What’s in it for youWorking here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential.
