Hello. We’re Hafren Dyfrdwy and we think water is wonderful. Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care. Here at Hafren Dyfrdwy we take pride in knowing we come to work each day and help make a difference to our customers, working together with our colleagues to solve problems as soon as we can. We’re a proud local company, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year we serve over 100,000 households and businesses across our communities in Mid and North Wales. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and the communities where they live. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

Our Ranger role sits at the heart of this value with the opportunity to really make a difference to our customers.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Working within our Hafren Dyfrdwy Visitor Experience Team, you’ll be the first point of contact ensuring we deliver high quality conservation, recreation and education across our three visitor sites – Lake Vyrnwy, Clywedog and Pendinas. We’re seeking someone who has an interest in maintaining areas, such as nature reserves and sites of special scientific interest. It’s important you possess a natural passion for delivering great customer service. We are also looking for someone that is comfortable using social media to engage with customers/visitors through creating engaging conversations and content that help our customers get information on our visitors’ centre. You’ll know Facebook, Twitter and Instagram well and you’ll understand how to interact on those platforms. The working hours for this role are typically 37 hrs per week between the hours of 8:30-16:30 Monday - Saturday (of course this means you will get time off in the week on your scheduled Saturday).

Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:

  • Practical grounds maintenance and conservation management using power tools (strimmer, brushcutter, chainsaws etc) on primary site and secondary satellite sites.
  • Be an ambassador for Hafren Dyfrdwy and help out visitors on site with any queries they may have.
  • Responsible for carrying out H&S Inspections across the site location.
  • Managing all forms of volunteering including recruitment, work planning, supervision and managing their safety to ensure that we have a well-motivated team.
  • Creating conservation initiatives and directly liaising with partners and the catchment team.
  • Being the public face of Hafren Dyfrdwy and demonstrating first class customer service at all times.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We are looking for people that have experience in Customer Service, Ground maintenance, conservation, and Visitor management. Event organising and being familiar with outdoor sports is important for this role such as fishing, cycling and walking as this is what a lot of visitors will be doing across the areas you will be helping to maintain. Having the ability to work with a large range of different people is important such as volunteers, contractors and partners as this will vary day to day. A health and safety management qualification as well as some practical qualification such as chainsaws, woodchippers and trailer towing would be great too. You’ll also need to have a full UK driving license for this role as it does involve some travel to and from sites. The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.

We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Hafren Dyfrdwy. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live. Here are just some of our favourite perks that you’ll get being part of the Severn Trent family:

  • Competitive Starting Salary of between £27,679 - £30,027.
  • 23 days Paid Holiday.
