We have two positions available within the Waste Proactive Performance team. It is key that you are a person with a passion for Customer care and Operational Excellence. Using your love of analytics and understanding of complex data sets, you’ll present your findings and recommendations and deliver effective and deliverable programmes and solutions supporting both the proactive team and the broader business.
Proactive Waste Networks is an exciting and evolving area of the business, which has undergone large-scale transformation. Combining your knowledge and expertise with large and varied datasets provides a great opportunity to drive continuous improvement of our KPIs and Outcome Delivery Incentives (ODIs) across the network.
You’ll be valued as a trusted expert, bringing additional value to our data. Working with others’ innovative ideas and hypotheses to drive actionable insights, you will be responsible for empowering the business to make informed decisions and improve performance.
Working with other members of the Data & Analytics team, you’ll help create compelling narratives and visualizations for your ideas/projects. You’ll collaborate with technical experts across Operations and the wider business, utilizing advanced data interrogation, extraction, and manipulation skills to support deep-dive analyses. This role offers the opportunity to work with many key stakeholders and showcase your talents within an energised and transforming environment.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Owning and driving performance improvement in line with external performance commitments and internal targets.
- Identifying new processes and/or investment opportunities to positively impact and deliver on commitments and targets.
- Developing opportunities to secure buy-in, gain funding or approval, and implementing them where applicable.
- Creating new reports, monitoring, tracking delivery and performance on improvement initiatives across Waste Networks, and escalating concerns promptly for optimal outcomes.
- Tracking tangible benefits of improvement initiatives and their impact on performance, escalating and driving decisions when benefits are off track.
- Providing insightful analysis of performance data, turning data into practical applications and influencing the business to capitalize on opportunities.
- Identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to performance at pace, and working with teams to develop improvement plans to leverage opportunities and mitigate risks quickly.
- Driving performance by collaborating with strategic and tactical planning teams, influencing multi-year planning processes where applicable.
- Applying technical knowledge to build credibility, ensure priorities are focused, and manage stakeholder expectations outside the team.
What you’ll bring to the role:
You should be naturally curious, motivated, action-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills to see ideas and improvements through to delivery. Previous experience analyzing complex data to extract key insights for performance improvement is essential.
Additionally, you will need the following skills:
- Proficiency in POWER BI and Microsoft Excel for analyzing and reporting on complex datasets.
- Experience with Microsoft Access and/or other databases, including creating and updating queries and reports, linking them to Excel and POWER BI for MI generation.
- Ability to translate complex data into insights and actionable improvement opportunities.
- Experience presenting to diverse audiences and influencing teams to gain support and buy-in.
- Strong relationship-building skills, credibility, and stakeholder management at all levels.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to understand processes in relation to data and the bigger picture.
- Knowledge of waste processes, operational environments, and working in regulated environments would be beneficial.
