Overview

Our Shelton depot is looking for a new Fleet Workshop Manager who will provide direction and leadership to our dedicated team of technicians and apprentices as they deliver maintenance and reactive repairs to our extensive fleet across the East Midlands.

In this high-profile role, you’ll bring energy and enthusiasm to the workshop, managing performance across financial, technician and service delivery targets, ensuring customers’ needs and expectations are met or exceeded. Ensuring parts and spares spend for the workshop will be part of your day-to-day, while always considering the best value proposition across all the work the team does.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operational management and financial performance of your own workshop and customer interactions and relationships.
  • Ensuring your workshop teams are prepared, competent and compliant and have what they need to deliver their day to day roles from a vehicle maintenance perspective.
  • Keeping your customers regularly updated, engaged and informed. Supply feedback to the wider fleet team on vehicle downtime and vehicle concerns through the vehicle replacement plan.
  • Making certain that our people go home safe and well each day, with Health and Safety at the forefront of your decision-making.

What we’re looking for

To succeed in this role we’ll be looking for demonstrable knowledge and experience in the commercial vehicle / HGV sector, with it being highly desirable if you have experience of working hands on with HGVs, while also being adept at working in an operational vehicle maintenance environment.

As you will be managing a team of 6 to 8 technicians, being able to show you have managed and led workshop teams will be key. Having a working knowledge of all daily fleet processes, health and safety regulations, DVSA standards will be essential to keep both you, the team and wider customers safe at all times.

We’ll want you to have the ability to manage and lead an operational workshop team and have a demonstrable track record on decision-making – thinking about both the customer and yourself in deciding appropriate solutions. We’ll want you to be an effective communicator using both experience and people skills to deliver the best outcomes and be able to work at pace and be able to self-manage.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
