Your role will be to gain practical experience in a few teams developing your knowledge and understanding of Severn Trent and the processes.
All of this will allow you to further develop your skills so you can communicate data effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders. HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME WORK?
You will be based at Sugarbrook in Bromsgrove, the heart of our patch. The programme requires you to be based in a workshop each day whilst working on Light Goods Vehicles (LGV), gaining your exposure to manufacture specific vehicles. You will study towards becoming a vehicle technician role, where you will be able to put your skills to action.
In this exciting programme, you will have the chance to discuss your development and career ambitions in your 1-1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team. As part of this apprenticeship, you will be studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician - light vehicle.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- You will expand your knowledge of how to carry out the basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to LV.
- How to contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes.
- Use a range of diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults and underlying causes on LV’s.
- How to follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem-solving techniques to establish faults.
- Triaging vehicles and rectify on the spot defects.
- Learn how to use industry standard and in-house software.

Our New Talent Team will guide you and support you every step of the way. Furthermore, your line manager, mentor and graduate buddy will be there to help you in making sure you reach your full potential here at Severn Trent.

Standard: Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician - light vehicle
Entry Criteria: If you don't already have GCSEs in English and maths, you will need to take functional skills as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs and achieve a Level 2. This must be achieved prior to completion of your apprenticeship.
Driving Requirements: You must have a full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle upon starting this apprenticeship.
