Apprenticeship Programmes are a great way to earn and learn! Our Waste Network Technician Apprentice Programme offers the perfect blend of learning and doing. Entering an apprenticeship scheme with us involves working towards the role of a fully-fledged professional, earning a salary, whilst also being able to maintain a sense of academic achievement. At Severn Trent, we provide the perfect mix between hands-on experience and a formal qualification, enabling our apprentices to make a real lasting difference to our customers and communities, not just for now, but far into the future.

As an apprentice Waste Network Technician, you'll be exposed to a wide range of opportunities through getting hands-on with our teams. You'll be supporting colleagues to help create a fair and equitable working environment where everyone can succeed by:

  • Learning how we maintain and repair our wastewater network.
  • Ensuring our system is working efficiently and effectively so that we don't cause any nasty blockages!
  • Working with customers to educate them on the impact pouring fats, oils, and greases down the drain can have on our system and will take proactive surveys and actions to keep our network well maintained.
  • Understanding how we respond and investigate pollution incidents, with a real care for our environment and customers.

This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A-Level qualifications). If you don't already have GCSEs in English and Maths, you will need to take functional skills as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs and achieve a Level 2. You will need to achieve this prior to completion of your apprenticeship.

TRAVEL/LICENCE REQUIREMENT
You will be required to have a Driving Licence & access to your own vehicle before completing your apprenticeship as driving is mandatory for your off-scheme role.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS POST APPRENTICESHIP
By the end of this programme, you will take up a role similar to that of a Network Technician, Senior Technician, or Jetting Operative.
