Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing daily, weekly and periodic cleaning as specified in both clinical and non-clinical settings including the Hospice’s Refresh café.
- Carry out all aspects of cleaning e.g. vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning hard surfaces with microfibre cloths and appropriate cleaning materials.
- Undertake ad hoc cleaning tasks as required by the Housekeeping Manager e.g. responding to ad hoc spillage reports/emergency cleaning needs in a timely manner.
- Ensure close liaison with clinical and Housekeeping staff to ensure that there is a coordinated approach to cleaning in clinical areas.
- Report maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Assist the Housekeeping Manager with ordering equipment and cleaning materials.
- Assist with trialling proposed new ways of working and propose ideas for consideration to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Remove and handle general waste and recycling as per Hospice procedures.
- Ensure all domestic consumables are available at all times in the appropriate dispenser/holder e.g. hand sanitizer, liquid soap, paper towels.
- Adhere to Hospice policies and procedures regarding all duties particularly Health and Safety, Infection Control, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Be sensitive to the needs of patients and visitors to the Hospice.
- Act as an ambassador for the Hospice when meeting patients and visitors.
- Ensure the use of all equipment is as per training received in order to maintain the cleaning standards required throughout the Hospice e.g. vacuum cleaner, floor cleaning machine.
- Maintain and clean equipment as required.
- Work across the Hospice site as required in both clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Cooperate and liaise with the wider Estates team to ensure that all areas of the Hospice meet the required standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
