Small Animal Vet - Severn Edge, Craven Arms & Ludlow - 4 days a week - Salary up to £60k
Are you an experienced small animal vet who wants a first opinion role with the ability to work up cases in house with the support of a very knowledgeable team, no OOH, good team socials and a real work/life balance? We are looking for a full time Vet to work 4 days a week with a share in our 1:3 Saturday morning rota (8:30am-12pm) to join our teams working at our Craven Arms and Ludlow branches.
Our practices are set in Shropshire market towns, with beautiful countryside, walks, wild swimming and cycling but just 24 miles from Hereford and 20 miles to Shrewsbury. Ludlow is a renowned foodie destination, with regular farmer markets and festivals.
We have modern facilities with in‑house blood machines, ultrasound, CR‑x‑rays, and endoscopes at the Craven Arms branch, dental x‑ray at our Ludlow branch, tonographs etc. With a very open mindset towards new equipment, we will support you if you need it to improve patient care and outcomes.
As well as normal first opinion work, we also have local charities we work really close with, both dog and cat. You will be working alongside an experienced team which includes a vet with a certificate in small animal diagnostic imaging and highly skilled and qualified nurses. Our wider team across Severn Edge also has vets with certificates in medicine, feline medicine, imaging, dentistry, cardiology and internal medicine. Our nurses have a keen interest in schedule 3 procedures and love to work with vets who can help them fulfil their potential.
Ideally, we are looking for an experienced candidate, however, if you are a more recent graduate but are self‑motivated and driven you could also be our perfect candidate. We want to support you and want to know why you enjoy being a vet and how we can facilitate this in your day to day working life. If you are a vet with a particular area of interest, certificate holder or skillset, we can share this with our wider teams and help facilitate your continued improvement and caseload in this area.
You will be supported by admin teams across Severn Edge, but also in branch by receptionists, patient care assistance and nurses. We look to maximise our nurse clinics and fully utilise all members of our team.
Your average work day would consist of consults (15 min vaccines, 20 min consult), surgeries, imaging, day‑care inpatients, lunch break, afternoon consults and dedicated admin time.
What we offer in return:
- Attractive salary – up to £60k, depending on experience
- Bonus Scheme
- 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata)
- Auto‑enrol pension
- Paid RCVS and VDS registration
- £1,000 and 5 day CPD allowance (pro rata)
- RCVS annual library membership
- Gym flex discounts at participating gyms
- Discounted pet treatments and products
CVS is committed to being a fully inclusive place to work where all our colleagues are encouraged and supported to be themselves, where difference is celebrated and where everyone feels able to deliver their best. We are also determined to build a workforce that is more representative of our diverse communities and the people we provide our services to.
