About the role

We are seeking a dedicated professional to take on HLTA responsibilities within the team. You’ll work collaboratively to ensure that students achieve their personal academic success regardless of their individual needs. In this role you will complement the professional work of our teaching staff by taking responsibility for designated learning activities that support literacy, numeracy, and the wider curriculum. You will have the opportunity to lead the delivery of defined learning activities, including covering PPA time and working with small groups without a teacher present.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering targeted learning activities, contributing to local and national learning strategies, and providing crucial PPA cover.
  • Making a significant contribution to the planning for students needing alternative provision, and implementing and reviewing Individual Plans.
  • Providing teachers with high-quality feedback on student progress, meeting with parents to design support and re-integration strategies, and liaising closely with the Head and SENCO.
  • Acting as a Lead Mentor to support students' pastoral, personal, and social needs, while also contributing to staff induction, mentoring, and training programmes.

About you

We are looking for an adaptable, forward-thinking professional who is deeply committed to both student outcomes and their own professional growth. To be successful in this role, you will bring a blend of experience, qualifications, and excellent interpersonal skills. You will:

  • Hold HLTA status and a good standard of general education (equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with relevant experience.
  • Have the necessary experience to support pupils with their individual needs as outlined in their EHCPs.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge and a commitment to continuing your personal and professional development in specialist areas.
  • Be able to work independently, take initiative, and remain flexible in a dynamic school environment.
  • Be confident in planning and delivering engaging lessons to small groups of students.
  • Be personable and a positive role model, with the ability to build highly effective relationships with pupils, peers, and colleagues across the trust.

About us

We pride ourselves on being a small and friendly school with a big broad outlook on the wider world. Through our vibrant curriculum, strong values and dedication our aim is for our children to become 'healthy resilient individuals, innovative contributors, ambitious, curious learners and ethically informed global citizens'. We can offer you:

  • A supportive trust and school community
  • Strong collaboration across the trust family of schools and access to a centralised team of specialists across all areas of school operations
  • A commitment to high‑quality CPD, with dedicated time and budget for your development
  • A values‑driven ethos where diversity, equity and inclusion are lived every day
  • Recognition of continuous service (modification order) to protect employment rights and entitlements
  • Local Authority Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions and death‑in‑service cover
  • Occupational sick pay to support you during illness or unexpected emergencies
  • Family‑friendly leave packages to help maintain a healthy work–life balance
