This role can be based at our Lostock, Dalton, or Mansfield sites, depending on your location and preference. At Severfield, we're creating better ways to build for a world of changing demands. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer, to be based out of Dalton, Lostock or Mansfield offices. This position is available at both our Lostock and Dalton sites. The purpose of this role is to deliver code-compliant, high-quality structural steelwork solutions that meet client requirements, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:

  • Have a sound understanding of engineering principles
  • Be able to work with external clients and internal stakeholders to produce practical design solutions
  • Carry out structural analysis and design to produce calculations for building regulations submission
  • Produce detailed design sketches to convey to draughtsperson with due regard to buildability and health & safety
  • Liaise with internal and external design teams to ensure that the design brief is clear, and a compliant design is produced
  • Assess, design and clearly define temporary works requirements
  • Ensure compliance with the company operating procedures, quality assurance, statutory safety legislation and our contractual responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for all technical aspects of a project and provide assistance to junior engineers

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of structural steelwork design including complex solutions and temporary works solutions
  • Experience in Design Management
  • A good understanding of buildability issues on major construction sites as well as in the fabrication shop

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree or Masters Degree in civil / structural engineering
  • Preferably Chartered Structural Engineer MIStructE
