Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education. The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors.
The role of the Structural Steel Trainee Detailer involves working alongside a more experienced colleague to prepare detailed drawings of steelwork designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by the Engineer/design team. The trainee’s skills will be enhanced and developed by the assignment of appropriate tasks, with the ultimate outcome to progress to the level of Structural Steel Detailer.
Other Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Developing structural steel designs for steel framed structures on CAD and liaising with Design Engineers, Architects and Clients.
- Creating detailed structural steel drawings on CAD from Engineers or Architects drawings/models.
- Reporting to drawing office manager and directors in such manner and frequency as the directors shall specify.
- Liaising with other Detailer(s), Drawing Office Team Leader(s) and Project managers to progress information on projects assigned, assimilating information and progressing drawings/models.
- Preparing detail drawings for fabrication packages associated with structural steelwork projects, including metalwork elements.
- Preparing detail drawings for variation work and recording variations on variation logs.
- Any other duties which may arise.
