Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education. The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors.
In the Detailer position you will play a key role in producing accurate 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures, supporting the delivery of high-quality steelwork packages for a range of major UK construction projects - including commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments. This position would suit someone with a background in structural steel detailing who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and digital collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Model structural steelwork in 3D using Tekla Structures to the company’s standards and procedures.
- Produce accurate general arrangement, fabrication, and fitting drawings, ensuring they meet both internal and client requirements.
- Interpret and coordinate architectural and structural design information, highlighting discrepancies or constructability issues.
- Generate and manage reports, including bolt lists, material lists, and NC data for fabrication.
- Apply project-specific standards, model templates, and drawing presentation settings.
- Coordinate model exchanges with engineers, connection designers, and site teams.
- Carry out clash detection and coordination within Tekla or associated BIM environments.
- Support digital workflows such as BIM 360, Trimble Connect, or SharePoint for model and drawing sharing.
- Maintain clear revision control and documentation in line with company quality procedures and ISO 19650 requirements.
- Liaise directly with project managers, fabricators, and site teams to ensure buildability and alignment between design and manufacture.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience using Tekla Structures for structural steel detailing.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, connections, and erection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and file management systems.
- High attention to detail, with a methodical and proactive approach to work.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with confidence liaising across departments.
- Knowledge of BIM 360, or Trimble Connect.
- Aware of ISO 19650 information management processes.
- Experience in a Design & Build or large fabrication environment.
