This role can be based at any of our construction sites across the UK, including our satellite sites, providing flexibility to suit business needs. In the Trainee Steel Erector position, you will begin by assisting the site foreman during your initial training period at ground level. This will be followed by learning how to erect steel structures in accordance with the RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) under the guidance of the foreman and a steel erection mentor. You will be responsible for ensuring that you and your team consistently adhere to company procedures regarding both work and safety. Additionally, you will follow industry best practices and comply with all relevant statutory legislation.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Gaining knowledge and understanding of relevant company procedures and ensuring their implementation on site.
- Conducting pre-use checks of electrical equipment and completing the required check sheets.
- Ensuring accurate and consistent use of the Donseed System.
- Collaborating with your squad to overcome work challenges and ensure programmed works are completed on time.
- Completing the SUK Induction and Main Contractor's Site Induction prior to commencing work.
- Reviewing, understanding, and signing off on current RAMS, lift plans, and permits before engaging in daily site activities.
Requirements for the Role
- A valid CSCS Card to access site and ensure site safety.
- Willingness to enroll in and work towards achieving relevant qualifications, including, but not limited to:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3
- CPCS MEWP and Scissor or IPAF 3a/3b+Basket-to-Basket training
- Bolting Level 1
- RVB and Seversafe Fans training
- Edge Protection and Offload training
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills as a minimum requirement.
