The purpose of this role is to deliver code-compliant, high-quality structural steelwork solutions that meet client requirements, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities:
- Have a sound understanding of engineering principles
- Be able to work with external clients and internal stakeholders to produce practical design solutions
- Carry out structural analysis and design to produce calculations for building regulations submission
- Produce detailed design sketches to convey to draughtsperson with due regard to buildability and health & safety
- Liaise with internal and external design teams to ensure that the design brief is clear, and a compliant design is produced
- Assess, design and clearly define temporary works requirements
- Ensure compliance with the company operating procedures, quality assurance, statutory safety legislation and our contractual responsibilities
- Take responsibility for all technical aspects of a project and provide assistance to junior engineers
Required Skills and Experience:
- Extensive knowledge of structural steelwork design including complex solutions and temporary works solutions
- A good understanding of buildability issues on major construction sites as well as in the fabrication shop.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree or Masters Degree in civil / structural engineering
- Preferably Chartered Structural Engineer MIStructE
