We have a fantastic opportunity for a Construction Estimator to join our team, based at either our Lostock or Glasgow office. Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education. The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors.
In the Construction Estimator position, you will play a key role in the Pre-Construction Department in developing and reviewing construction methodologies and programmes for project tenders. Your aim will be to develop efficient and commercially advantageous solutions for project delivery on site, while also achieving client’s requirements. You’ll bring a good understanding of construction techniques that can be applied to the wide range of projects delivered by the business.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Interpret CAD and technical drawings to inform erection estimates
- Translate site-specific information into actionable insights for the Estimating team
- Assess crane and plant requirements and incorporate costs into base estimations
- Determine access equipment needs for site operations
- Assess and develop site welding requirements and incorporate costs into base estimations
- Evaluate temporary works requirements and obtain relevant quotes
- Contribute to / Produce detailed erection pricing sheets
- Contribute to programme planning and tender submissions for erection phases
We’re looking for someone with significant site-based construction experience, ideally within structural steel environments. An HNC in a relevant field is desirable, but not essential, alongside strong technical and communication skills. As well as being:
- Proficient in Trimble Connect
- Appreciation of CAD / Tekla
- Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience/appreciation of proprietary programming software (such as Asta / Primavera /Project) is desirable
- Strong communication and presentation abilities
- Commercially aware with excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrates personal responsibility for Health & Safety
- Understands and applies H&S legislation in daily work
