Vacancy Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Industrial Relations Manager based at the Hinkley Point C site in Somerset. The role will lead workforce relations at the project, working closely with trade unions, workforce representatives, contractors, and senior project stakeholders to drive the industrial relations strategy, ensure compliance with ECSA and site agreements, support collective negotiations and provide expert guidance on workforce matters to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the project’s industrial relations strategy.
- Ensure compliance with ECSA, collective agreements and employment legislation.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with trade unions and workforce representatives.
- Facilitate consultation, negotiation and collective bargaining activities.
- Manage industrial disputes, grievances and workforce issues to minimise operational disruption.
- Provide advice and support to senior leaders on industrial relations matters.
- Monitor workforce sentiment, identify emerging risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Work collaboratively with contractors, HR teams, operational leaders and external stakeholders.
- Develop workforce relations policies and promote best practice across the project.
Skills and Experience
You will have proven industrial relations experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or major projects, with strong knowledge of ECSA/NAECI agreements. You will be confident working with trade unions, leading negotiations and dispute resolution, and influencing senior stakeholders in complex, multi‑contractor environments.
- Degree‑qualified in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business Management, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 qualification is desirable.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development within employment or industrial relations.
