In the Assistant Quantity Surveyor position you will provide support to the Quantity Surveying department by ensuring the effective management and control of commercial and contractual aspects of projects, contributing to the efficient delivery of business objectives. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Preparing and submitting interim valuations for projects monthly to ensure positive cash flow throughout projects.
- Providing assistance, support and guidance on commercial issues and developing a culture of contractual awareness in project teams.
- Preparing interim valuations/applications for payment including negotiating project final accounts.
- Producing internal cost/value reports.
- Administrating subcontractor/supplier accounts, including the monitoring and processing of payments and settlement of final accounts.
- Preparing technical estimates.
- Evaluating hours allowed at tender stage and reconciliation of hours worked within the fabrication process.
- Reviewing and assisting with the administration of subcontracts for each project.
- Entering budgets and costings on the company's management information software system.
- Logging and recording Contracts/Bonds/Insurances/Retentions/Collateral Warranty documentation.
- Carrying out Steel take offs; measuring and qualifying material from drawings and specifications.
We are looking for someone who holds or is working towards a BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar relevant qualification. You don’t need to come from a Structural Steel background - what matters most is your commercial awareness, eye for detail, and strong communication skills.
